Derek first started tattooing back in 2009, and opened up Big Hot Olive Tattoo above the post office in a tiny town called Pleasant Hall, PA in 2011. The shop, named after Derek's grandmother Olive, took residence over that 4 way stop sign from 2011 up until November 2020, when we moved to our current location in Chambersburg, right on Rt 11 next to Franklin Feed. Derek worked alone for the first 7 years the shop was open and built up the reputation and quality that we are known for. In 2018 Candace joined Derek in the small attic space. There was room for the two of them but no one else which meant no room for any further expansion. That led to the decision to move to a larger location. After we had moved and settled we took on our first apprentice, Foster. She started in 2021 and was tattooing by 2022. We then added Aiden to the team in 2023, he apprenticed and was tattooing by 2024. WE DO NOT NOW NOR DO WE EVER PLAN ON HAVING A PIERCER. WE DO NOT DO ANY PIERCINGS, WE DO NOT SELL ANY JEWELRY.
